Want to know what I’m working on?

You’ve come to the right place.

I’m currently writing a cosy fantasy novel which is turning into a great exercise in character development and world-building.

My previous WIP is out on submission right now and you can read the blurb below. Enjoy!

Underbelly

In the cobblestone streets of Kearne, magic poisoning is getting worse. What was once a simple case of leisurely attending a local clinic to have magic extracted, now sees Doctor Turner Blake and his colleagues hurtling through the streets to extract magic from their patients before corporeal fulmination – the final, destructive stage of poisoning – sets in.

They are sometimes too late.

Explosions rip through the city, leaving death and destruction in their wake. Turner wants nothing more than to stop them and discover why magic, once a useful tool, became corrupted and turned upon the citizens.

Wren Alcaster just wants to improve her lot in life, to be taken seriously as a mechanic, and to carve her own little niche where she feels like she belongs. When she is caught up in a fulmination that leaves her mother in a coma, she is miraculously unscathed, although the state of her clothing suggests otherwise.

When it becomes clear that she has taken on magic that has not poisoned her, Wren and Turner must work with a clandestine organisation known as the Underbelly to uncover the truth of magic. Meanwhile, a shadowy governmental body is bent on keeping magic from the populous and will stop at nothing to keep the Underbelly in its place. Can the Underbelly rise and stop the explosions? Or will their oppressors strip away their agency piece by piece as fulminations rage through the city?
